This verse is for my people, locked up in jail,
for my people who went to court and got refused bail.
My heart is with you; don’t think I don’t feel your pain,
this system’s got you locked up in invisible chains.
Keep your head up; keep your chin up,
even though you’re feeling down, try and get your grin up.
Don’t let the gov’nors stress you out,
if you bang them out
you run up your mouth,
you get block.
Whether you’re Jr’d, convicted, or remanded
just
pray to God and your wishes will be granted.
And
I know them letters just bring you a smile
so use your time wisely –
make it worthwhile.
Two of my boys who got years,
double figures,
two life.
These boys won’t see road until they’re 40,
with bash mags for lovers
who keep it naughty.
Two of my new ones coming behind these bars,
don’t be coming in here weak hearted, acting hard.
You’re the type to get a shower and get left scarred
with a razor
or hot water.
Just stay on your guard.
This is jail star; I know it’s stressful, hard.
When 23 hours locked behind bars
with emotional scars,
thinking about road.
It’s cold
even when it’s hot outside.
Don’t let them hold you forever and
take away your pride.
But,
we keep it physical in the gym,
bench press banging
punch ball slamming
no doors clanging.
